Google Translate App Review by Melaina Y.

Do you want to know what some people are saying in a different language? Then download Google Translate, because it can translate from tons of different languages into whatever other language that you want! You can speak and it will translate it, you can write it, or simply just type it. You can use this if you want to say something in a different language, but don’t know how to say it. This is a simple little app, but very easy to learn how to use.

When you first open up the app, it brings you right to the homepage. At the top, you can choose what language you want to translate, and what you want it to come out as. For example, if I want to say ‘hello’ in Spanish, then one (box) that is selected will be English, because I am going from English to Spanish. And the second one will be Spanish. Once I type in what I want to say in the first box, it will translate that into the other language. So if I typed ‘hello’ in English in the first box, then the Spanish version, ‘hola’, will appear just underneath that.

Just below the boxes, you see a camera icon. This lets you take a picture of text, and then you can translate it. Next to that is the handwriting icon. This allows you to write something, and it will translate what you wrote into that other language. The third icon is conversation. You can talk back and forth between languages, and it will translate in both of them, so that way each person can understand what the other is saying. The last one at the end is the voice icon. This is similar to the conversation icon, but it is just one way. You speak into it and it translates that into the other one.

At the bottom of your screen, there is the home button, which is what you are first on, then there is the saved and the settings button. The saved button allows you to view your saved translations. If you wanted to save it, star it and it will be in your saved tab. The settings button allows you to edit different things. Being able to translate offline is very useful in most cases. All you have to do is download that language, and it will work without being connected to the internet. When you go back to your home page, you can see all of your previous translations underneath the icons that I first explained. This allows you to ‘star’ them and look back at them.

There are so many things that you can do with this app. You can memorize different phrases in so many languages. You can connect with other people by understanding what they are saying with many different tools on this app. I hope that you enjoyed this and explore many things with Google apps.
